the tv shows,
the fashion (even if at times remembering the shoulder pads make me uneasy, the trench coat, acid wash jeans, wayfarer sunglasses, neon socks, oversized shirts, and espadrilles were cool then)
the movies,
the wedding,
and yes even the hair of the 80's has its moments, remember MacGyver and Andrei Agassi sporting a mullet.
You may ask why the sudden 80's thing, well, my fave band during the decade was Duran Duran, and with their 13th Studio Album that just came out which is 'All you Need is Now',
fond memories came rushing back. John Taylor was my fave, he was just so easy on the eyes back then, a real eye-candy. And you bet I'd buy any magazine that has them or even just him on the cover and pages. Lots of my allowance was spent on buying their albums and posters too. Oh how time flies... do you have any 80's favorite? A band, movie, tv show, fashion or just a fond memory of the decade.

Here are some vids of John Taylor,
omg, Duran Duran is my favorite 80s band, too, and John was my favorite as well. I don't have the new album yet but you bet it's on my list.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting and commenting on the awesome Cate, I'm your new follower!
Oh, i love this post so much! I'm a 80s, my favourite band is Eurythmics. I love 80s fashion, music, everything. I'm sorry that I was born just in 1984 :-) but these films and series came to Hungary mush later, in the 90s like Knight Rider and the others. I'm happy that 80s are back but I'm sure the feeling is not the same... Bur Hungary had its own 80s too with cultic items, maybe i will post about them once.
ReplyDeleteANN! Oh, I have to say that the 80s is when I got married, my husband and I were YOUNG, we moved from L.A. to Boston and went to school. I remember ALL of these things, watching McGyver while doing my homework and as I look back, I remember the hit FLASH DANCING made on how I dressed! Oh what fun....and thank YOU for coming over for a dip in that fabulous turquoise water of Navagio Beach GREECE!!!! Have a great day, Anita
ReplyDeleteI loved the 80's too, even the bad hair!
ReplyDeleteI have some great shots of good times.
Loved Fiorucci in the city....and the Fashions...

Oh my, your post has just given me flashbacks of some hideous outfits I wore in the 80's. I am more of a 1960's/1970's girl for music as my dad was in a band and I was brought up on that music but I was a teenager in the 80's and I was into Punk/The Damned/Madness/Dead Kennedys etc. My best friend was a HUGE Duran Duran fan and her bedroom wall was covered with posters of John Taylor, there wasn't a space left on her wall that didnt have John Taylors face on. My other good friend was into Spandau Ballet and her room was covered in Tony Hadley. My bedroom was covered in the Beatles and Sid Vicious (I know what a mix!!! LOL!) Just saw a recent concert a couple of weeks ago on TV of Duran Duran and they still have it! I have to admit I was a secret fan of Nick Rhodes. Great post X
ReplyDeleteHow spooky, I have the Vintage Tv channel on(plays vintage music videos all day)and Save a Prayer (my favourite Duran Duran song ever) has just come on as I sent my last comment. It has taken me straight back to 1982 X
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post! :-) Yes, I did experience the 80's, but as an adult....with a young teen. Oh my.... the HAIR! She didn't go anywhere with out a can of Aqua Net hanging out of her handbag. This post would give her a giggle....and I LOVED those shoulder pads. WHY, I ask myself now. :-)
ReplyDeleteWarm hugs,
Spencer
OMYGOODNESS I LOVE the 80's!!!! I can't tell you how much I love MacGyver...still!!! :) He was plastered all over my walls! I almost wish the big hair would come back and the music was great! I still listen to many 80's bands.

ReplyDeleteHi Anne,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment today. Your blog is awesome - yes the 80's were a very real decade for me - my teenage years. I had a friend who was obsessed with John Taylor and kept trying to get me to say his name, she thought I sounded like him.
